Kerala High court today directed the state government to inform it of the reasons for not using force to evict the encroachers at various places in Wayanad district.

The direction in this regard was issued by a Division Bench, comprising Justice K M Joseph and Justice M L Joseph Francis, while considering a petition by the state government seeking four more months time to evict the encroachers.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to interfere in the eviction order passed by the High court but directed the government to approach the High court if it needs more time to evict the encroachers.

The government had sought more time fearing serious law and order problem during evictions and the vastness of the area from where evictions have to be take place.
