Pilot discusses cyber security with US, invites IT investments

MoS meet senior officers of Obama Administration

Minister of State for IT and Communications Sachin Pilot met officials in the Obama administration looking after the sector to discuss issues like security and terrorism in the cyber space.

During his stay in Washington from March 28-30, he addressed a meeting of the US India Business Council (USIBC) and urged participants from over a 100 companies that have business relationships with India to invest in the country's IT sector, particularly in the hardware space.

He spoke about the commitment of the Indian government to provide broad band connectivity even to the remote villages within a small time frame so that rural population could have access to healthcare, education and other services.

Pilot also met officials in the US Department of Commerce to exchange ideas on how to take the collaboration in economic and technological space between the two countries to the next level by fostering joint innovations.

Healthcare and skill information were other areas that came up for discussion as part of future areas of collaboration.

Among the officials who called on him were the newly-appointed Under Secretary for International Trade Administration Francisco Sanchez, Federal Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra and Senior Adviser for Innovation to the US Secretary of State Alec Ross.
