AIIMS will get new OPD block, hostels

Central governments funds to be used on new OPD building, new hostels.

A new out-patient department (OPD) block of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will soon come up at Masjid Moth near south extention here, AIIMS director R C Deka mentioned in his Independence Day speech at the hospital campus. 

“The government has already approved plan and allocated funds for the new screening OPD block which will come up at the vacant land at area at Masjid Moth,” noted a press release from AIIMS on Monday.

The central government has agreed to release over Rs 700 crore for infrastructural development in aims. The hospital can now hope to have better hospital facilities and parking space besides other infrastructural development.

For the grieving students, resident doctors, staff and faculty members, a modern hostel will also come up at the Masjid Moth or the Ayurvigyan campus of AIIMS. The construction will start as soon as the local authorities in the area grant permission.

The director also mentioned that better incentives for faculty members invited to international and national conferences will now be arranged and the Valiathan Committee report’s recommendations will also be implemented.
