In a fresh letter to prime minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday, social activist Anna Hazare raised issue of corruption in defence procurement and situation arising out of the recently published Indian Express story about coup like situation in the country.

Hazare said that army chief General V K Singh raised some pertinent question about defence preparedness of the country.

“Gen VK Singh has raised certain concerns in the letter he sent across to you. We would like to know: where did all the defence money go? Our defence budget is very high? Where is it going?” Hazare writes.

He further asked, “Is India and Indians safe in your hands?” Hazare also asked government to give details about the information on ammunition and equipment shortage in the defence forces.

Raising question against government about imminent coup like situation in the country, the social activist asked how government’s apprehension came in a big way as story in Indian Express.

The Tatra truck controversy was also mentioned in Hazare’s letter. As a common man, Hazare wrote the country wanted to know how army chief was offered bribe by a former colleague.

This is not the first time that Hazare has written letter to the PM but it is for the first time he has raised questions on corruption in defence sector.

During his movement against corruption, Hazare had written several letters to Manmohan Singh regarding Lokpal and country facing corruption. Even the PM replied him through some letters.
