AP bypolls: Congress launches open attack on Jagan

"The true colours of Congress are in the open now and its strategy of trying to project YSR as a corrupt leader will boomerang and the Congress will be swept away in the ensuing bypolls which will pave way for mid-term poll," YSR Congress spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said.

The bypolls in 16 of the 18 seats are necessitated as the sitting Congress MLAs were disqualified by the Assembly Speaker for switching loyalty to Jagan and voting against the Congress government in a floor test in December last, while the sitting member quit in support of the Kadapa MP in another seat.

Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi quit as MLA following his election to Rajya Sabha which caused bypoll. The byelections have to be held in six months.
