On the issue of Anna Hazare filing a pre-emptive affidavit in the supreme court against government action against his crusade for Jan Lokpal, the Congress has maintained a studied distance, saying that everybody has the right to approach any court.

Party spokesperson Manish Tiwari, however, took potshots at Hazare's apolitical movement saying that anybody who has not been a part of a political agitation is bound to "fear the stick." "Being a part of a political agitation liberates one from fear," Tiwari said.

He said that Hazare should see himself in the mirror of morality he holds to the nation. "The justice Sawant inquiry report has raised some serious questions about Hazare's integrity," he said.

The issue is not whether the government will act on the report or not. If Hazare is trying to prove himself as a repository of all moral values then people will have legitimate reasons to ask him about what jsutice Sawant has said about him or his organisation," he said.
