Kashmir job panel likely to meet on Friday

Will work out plan of action for next three months

The committee headed by Dr C Rangarajan on employability for youth in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to meet on August 27 in Delhi.

Primarily the committee shall have two or three meetings in Vigyan Bhavan, with senior officials of the ministries of home, agriculture, external affairs, commerce and rural development, and draw a plan of action for the next three months.

Against the backdrop of violent protests in the state, prime minister Manmohan Singh had announced this expert committee, which has as its members N R Narayana Murthy, Tarun Das, P Nanda Kumar,  Shaqueel Qalander and an official representative of the state government. It will formulate a Job Plan for the
state, involving both the public and the private sectors. It will interact with the National Skill Development Mission and submit its report within three months.

Nand Kumar, former agriculture secretary, will provide inputs about the employability of the youths in agriculture extension. He will also explore bringing youth to the mainstream by putting horticulture export promotions.

Krishnan, an IAS officer of the 1983 Karnakata cadre, is going to be the secretary to the committee, and will write the final report.
