Prime minister Manmohan Singh told parliament that India's relationship with the Middle East was of utmost importance to maintain good diplomatic relations with west Asia.

In Lok Sabha, question hour was taken up and Sailendra Kumar of Samajwadi Party raised a question about the greenfield airport in Allahabad. While putting a supplementary question he sought Sonia Gandhi's attention and said Allahabad was an important city and the UPA chairperson's intervention was needed for an international airport there. Sonia Gandhi was seen listening to this question with rapt attention by nodding her head.

As for an international airport in Sriperumbudur, TR Baalu of DMK raised a question for civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi. Baalu asked if the change of government in Tamil nadu had prompted any change of mind in the civil aviation ministry. Ravi did not get into the controversy and said he would examine it at the earliest.
