S Narsing Rao is new CIL chief

He will join as the chairman the next week

S Narsing Rao will be the new chairman and managing director of Coal India Limited. After getting clearance from the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and coal ministry, it is now confirm that Rao will be the new chairman of CIL. The public enterprises selection board (PESB) has already given its assent last month for the appointment of 1986-batch IAS officer. According to source in the ministry of coal, Rao is now looking forward to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) and get relieved from the Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

Rao is an Andhra Pradesh-cadre IAS officer, and has been serving as the CMD of the state-controlled Singareni Collieries Company Limited since 2006. The CVC and coal ministry has sent its approval to the Prime minister’s office. Rao is likely to join CIL as a chairman the next week. Coal India had been without a chief for eleven months now. Ironically, Rao is the fourth non-CIL nominee for the top post.
