State has spent Rs 226 crore for the rehabilitation, says water resources minister

Gujarat has completed the rehabilitation of all those who were affected by the Sardar Sarovar - Narmada Project, spending Rs 226 crore to date, said minister for water resources, Nitin Patel in the state assembly on Monday.

"The height of dam on river Narmada today stands at 121 meters and people of all those villages which would be submerged have been relocated and rehabilitated," Patel said while replying to question by Congress MLA Siddharth Patel.

He further said the state had spent Rs 226 crore for the rehabilitation.

The minister also told the house that these project affected persons have been given all modern facilities and infrastructure in the new colonies set up for them.

He also claimed that seeing the facilities given to the project-affected in Gujarat, others project-affected persons from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh had also come to the state to settle down in these new colonies.
