Sir, I’m concerned at the slow pace of implementation of Saranda Development Plan

Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh wrote to Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda on June 19, 2012 asking him to provide personal guidance and support to the centre’s poverty reduction programme in the state.

Here is the text of letter (translated from Hindi):


Dear Arjun Mundaji,

As you are aware, Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), one of the major poverty reduction programme launched in 1999 by the ministry, has been re-launched as the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) with some fundamental changes. This has brought a positive change in the outlook of the poor towards livelihood and empowerment.

2. The empowered committee of NRLM has already approved the annual action plan (AAP) of the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), Jharkhand. The centre’s share in the total allocation of Rs 168.89 crore for 2012-13 is Rs. 126.67 crore.

3. The secretary, rural development department, has already brought the issues that SRLM should focus on in this financial year to the notice of the chief secretary. A copy of this communication has been attached for reference.

4. You are requested to provide your personal guidance and support to SRLM for effective implementation of NRLM in your state.
