Vocational Education Bill to be tabled in Parl soon

Bill coming in winter session, will help increase employability of dropouts

Union government is planning to introduce a series of legislations to reform the education system in the country and the Parliament will soon discuss National Vocational Education Bill, HRD minister Kapil Sibal said here today.

Delivering the first Ramrao Adik Oration, the minister said the vocational bill would benefit students and dropouts to become employable and would get certification in various skill development programmes.

"We are expecting the bill to be placed in the Parliament during the winter session," he said.

Sibal informed that there were many bills in the pipeline with the objective to have a transparent, corruption-free and a true democratic education system in the country.

Among the various bills the government is planning to come up with include Educational Tribunal bill and Educational Malpractices bill which are expected to be passed soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said the state was looking forward to the tabling of the Foreign University bill.

He said the state is also keen to upgrade the skills of the youth passing out of school or college and is waiting for the bill on vocational education to be passed.skill development programmes.
