Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Siemens Networks' software to offer seamless internet connectivity and more intuitive mobile data services across the 16 African nations where the company operates.

Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Siemens Networks' Serve at Once Device Management (SADM) software for implementation across its operations in 16 African countries, the private telecom operator said in a statement.

"Nokia Siemens Networks' robust mobile device management solution will allow our customers in Africa to enjoy the latest services by enabling seamless internet connectivity and excellent customer care support, while Airtel will benefit from reduced operational costs when introducing new devices or services," Bharti Airtel CEO (International) and Joint Managing Director Manoj Kohli said.

Nokia Siemens Networks' SADM will enable Bharti Airtel to remotely and automatically manage and configure user devices for new data services, the statement added.

"Nokia Siemens Networks supports this transition by helping operators to manage user experience better and deliver improved services seamlessly," Nokia Siemens Networks Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Suri said.

Bharti Airtel has a three-year contract with Nokia Siemens Networks under which the latter will implement its mobile internet browsing solution (MIBS) and multimedia messaging solution (MMSC), hosted on a virtualised and centrally managed platform across the telecom major's operating regions in Africa.
