Airtel digital TV, the DTH service of Bharti Airtel, on Wednesday announced the launch of its 3D-ready High Definition Video Recorder (HD Recorder) set top box for Rs 4,490.

The new Airtel digital TV HD recorders will enable customers to view HD and Standard Definition (SD) channels, pause, rewind and record up to 550 hours of content, Airtel digital TV said in a statement.

The boxes will be available for existing customers at Rs 3,990 and Rs 4,490 for new customers, it added.

Currently, players like Tata Sky and Videocon d2h have recorder facility on their HD set top boxes.

"We have over 15 per cent of our new customers in the top metros already coming in on HD, a trend that is expected to get a welcome impetus with the addition of HD Recorder to our portfolio," Bharti Airtel Director and CEO (Airtel digital TV) Ajai Puri said.

Airtel digital TV claims to have over 5.1 million subscribers in the country.
