All mints in country go online

Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) went live on SAP with mints at Hyderabad and Kolkata along with ink factory at Dewas and Security Paper Mill at Hoshangabad

All five mints in the country are now online after those at Hyderabad and Kolkata were connected to data centre at Noida, the Finance Ministry said today.

Besides, the ink factory at Dewas and security paper mill at Hoshangabad have also been connected to the central server at Noida through SAP (Systems, Applications and Products) programme. The units went online yesterday.

"Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) went live on SAP with mints at Hyderabad and Kolkata along with ink factory at Dewas and Security Paper Mill at Hoshangabad, on May 2," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in December, 2010 three mints were put on online system.

Now all mints in the country are live on SAP and remotely connected to the data centre at Noida over secure communication lines, the statement said adding all mints can make online transactions using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning).

The project managers PwC along with IT partners HCL Infosystems and implementation partners MahindraSatyam have helped SPMCIL achieve its 2nd phase of SAP ERP implementation.

SPMCIL was formed after corporatisation of four mints, four presses and one paper mill which were earlier functioning under the Ministry of Finance.

SPMCIL, a wholly owned company of Government of India, is miniratna central public sector enterprise.

It is engaged in the manufacture of security paper, minting of coins, printing of currency and back notes, non-judicial stamp papers, postage stamps and travel documents.
