Project to offer eight central and 28 state government services

PTI | August 3, 2011

An e-biz portal, which will allow entrepreneurs to seek clearances - both from central and state government, will be inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh in January.

The pilot project, an initative of Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiradiya Scindia, will allow businesses to file various returns, pay taxes and submit compliances through a single interface.

"We are going to start e-biz project in Andhra Pradesh from January. It will have 36 services, eight from the Centre and 28 services from government," Scindia said at a function here.

Once the project is successful in the state, the next step would be to implement it in other states like Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi, he added.

At present, to set up a business in the country, an entrepreneur requires a number of approvals from civic bodies, state government agencies and the Centre.

These include registration under the Companies Act and the Shops and Establishment Act and the tax authorities for value-added tax and income tax.
