Assam became the first state in the country to launch the e-Udyog today to create transparency, promptness with increased efficiency in governance and improve public service with the support of information technology.

Launching the initiative, Assam Minister for Industries and Commerce Pradyut Bordoloi said the online system will generate accurate economic data, reduce response time of the department and be convenient for the enterprises to file the applications due to certainty of delivery.

Very soon few more activities would be incorporated to e-Udyog.

While states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have taken up e-filling of forms but only Assam had included nine other activities, he said.

Principal Secretary to the Industry and Commerce department Ravi Kapoor said the aim of e-Udyog was to create systems easily accessible by an entrepreneur, besides streamlining and simplifying the procedures for various applications and subsidy claims under North East Industrial Policy 2007 and Assam Industrial Policy 2008.
