The imposed ban on bulk SMSes by the Government in the face of Ayodhya verdict has affected the services of local search engine 'Just Dial', which provides local information across multiple cities in India.

"We are unable to give prompt services, as we have to read out the information, which is normally sent via SMSes.

The services are disturbed on a little higher note. We are giving our best verbally and via e-mails," Just Dial Service Manager (Mumbai) Aarti Dalal said.

Just Dial is India's first local search engine, which provides local information to customers. The clients can search data regarding restaurants, movies, resorts, courier and healthcare services, etc.

She said the time duration for each call has also gone up, compared to times when we sent the desired information through messages. Usually one call takes 30 seconds, but now the time duration has inched up to two minutes per call to pen down the data.

"Our call duration for every call has increased considerably, as we need to give numbers verbally. However, we are trying to control the grievous situation," Dalal added.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has issued orders in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs to all mobile telecom service providers in the country that all bulk SMS and MMS messages shall remain banned in all service areas till September 30.

The announcement was made after the Supreme Court had stayed the Ayodhya title suit verdict on September 23 for a week and will hear the plea for deferment of the judgement tomorrow.
