BSNL announces spl plans for paramilitary personnel

The two plans announced by the company will offer paramilitary personnel free talk time for 20 minutes on any two BSNL numbers throughout the country.

State-run telecom company is bullish on its enterprise segment and has set a target of Rs 3,202 crore from it during the current financial year.

"Our scheme launched today for paramilitary jawans is part of Enterprise business division. We expect revenue of this segment to reach Rs 3202 crore in FY'12," RK Upadhyay, chairman and managing director of BSNL said. He was speaking on the sidelines of a function to announce special tariff plans for paramilitary forces.

The two plans announced by the company will offer paramilitary personnel free talk time for 20 minutes on any two BSNL numbers throughout the country. This facility will be available free of cost even on roaming.

"Jawans at some locations cannot go to their homes even in emergency situations because the road connectivity is blocked.

Phone is the the only medium they connect with their family.

We highly appreciate this welcome gesture of BSNL," Raman Srivastava, director general, Border Security Forces said.

Apart from this, the new plan will offers reduced calling charges of 20 paise per min on any two BSNL numbers, be it mobile or landline for the jawans.

The Paramilitary Plan is available on both 2G and 3G network. On 3G network, paramilitary personnels will be offered video calls at the rate Rs 70 paisa per minute.

Apart from the two plans, BSNL also announced an economical package for the personnel at fixed monthly charges (FMC) of Rs 99 including tax. Under this plan, paramilitary personnel can make calls at 1 paisa per second pulse besides freebies.

Out of Rs 99 FMC, the paramilitary personnel can have additional talk time worth Rs 75 per month. This scheme will be available on pre-paid plans wherein jawans can recharge their mobiles using vouchers.

Under the Officers Plan, serving officers can avail unlimited free calls to any BSNL numbers within a circle. This is besides the 500 free local and national SMS and 1500 minutes per month free STD calls on any BSNL numbers.

This also includes 300 and 200 minutes of free incoming roaming call and outgoing roaming call respectively.

Upadhyay said BSNL is working on more such corporate deals and will be preferably done in synergy with MTNL.

"We (BSNL and MTNL) have already started synergising our enterprise deals. Recently we did income tax department deal.

All income tax offices through out the country is connected through BSNL and MTNL network," he said.

Upadhyay added that tariff will vary from organisation to organisation depending on the deal size. He said BSNL is preferably looking at deals with government organisations.

Upadhyay expressed optimism of a 10 per cent increase in overall revenue of the company during 2010-11. During the period, BSNL also expects revenue from its enterprise business division to be around Rs 2000 crore.
