Member of Canadian Parliament Ruby Dhalla today said a data base of marriage registrations should be created by Punjab government so that credentials of any NRI who comes back here for marriage could be checked.

"The issue of fraud marriages is very serious. I met some 60 women in Ramoowalia village who were deserted by their husbands. Marriage is not a business. The men come, marry the women and go back and never come back as they are already married abroad," she told reporters here.

She said that she had also told Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal about it.

She said that the marriage should be immediately registered and both husband and wife should sign and when a NRI comes the girl's family could check the credentials of the boy and vice versa.
