Cashless medicare for MCD employees, computers for students

No employee of the MCD including teachers will have to run around different departments for re-imbursement of their medical bills; besides, computers to be given to students of Class IV students

In a major employee-friendly initiative, MCD on Monday announced that its employees can avail medical care from empannelled hospitals without paying a single penny.

The civic body also announced that it will provide budget computers for students studying in MCD schools. This was announced by Mayor Rajni Abbi at a function to facilitate teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

"After the implementation of medical scheme, no employee of the MCD including teachers will have to run around different departments for re-imbursement of their medical bills. An employee will only have to show his card in the empanelled hospital for availing the facility."

She also said that students will be given to students of Class IV students. Making the announcement about Budget computers, MCD Education Committee chairman Mahinder Nagpal said the plan to provide budget computers to students is afoot and talks are also on with the Centre for the purpose.

Nagpal said the total cost of the scheme will be Rs 30 crore. "Any such initiative will be first in the country. The scheme may further be extended to class V students in the future," he said.
