Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), the flagship project of the Union Home Ministry, will be in place in two districts of Haryana, namely Gurgaon and Panchkula by March 2012 on pilot basis.

The project is a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effective policing at all levels, especially at the police station level, through adoption of e-Governance and creation of nationwide networked infrastructure.

The State Apex Committee in its 5th meeting held under the chairpersonship of Haryana Chief Secretary, Urvashi Gulati here today accorded in-principle approval to the grant of the state share in the project, thus setting the stage for signing of the agreement with Hewlett-Packard, a leading global IT company, an official spokesman said.

The project would be rolled out across the state over the next two years.  The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved funds amounting to Rs 31.39 crore for the implementation of CCTNS project in the state.

Earlier in January this year, Haryana became the first state in the country to release the Request for Proposal (RFP) for selection of System Integrator for the implementation, commissioning and maintenance of the CCTNS project.

After completion of the tendering process, the state High Powered Purchase Committee shortlisted Hewlett-Packard as the System Integrator for the award of this contract at the total value of Rs 53 crore.
