The Government today said Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has received 161 complaints during three years starting from 2007 on issues mainly related to licences, misuse of spectrum, and irregularities in awarding contracts.

The CVC has received a total of 161 complaints, out of which 147 have been received from the Department of Telecom (DoT) and rest are from Department of Information Technology (DIT), Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

The DoT has received 147 complaints mainly related to issue of deviation from the official procedure, issue of licences, misuse of spectrum by dominant players and evasion of revenue shares by telecom operators, Pilot added.

Further, he said there are 14 complaints by DIT related to irregularities in awarding works, corruption, testing of equipment by standardisation,testing and quality certification directorate.

The reports were sent to the CVC in a timebound manner.

However, in some cases like issue of license, misuse of spectrum and evasion of revenue shares, the matter was referred to special auditor for investigation, he added.

Pilot said the Vigilance units of each of the Departments which are DoT, Department of Post and DIT regularly monitor all cases referred to the Departments by the CVC and direction have been issued from time to time the investigating officers to expedite the investigation and submission of report as per CVC instructions.
