Datacraft Asia rebrands itself as Dimension Data

To launch one cloud service with BSNL soon

PTI | May 12, 2011

Infotech solutions provider, Datacraft Asia, has re-branded itself as Dimension Data with effect from yesterday, and is set to launch its 'One Cloud' service along with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) through a revenue sharing venture within three months.

"There will be no equity participation by BSNL. It will be purely a revenue sharing model," Dimension Data CEO Kiran Bhagwanani told PTI here.

"We have invested USD 50 million to set up six data centres at BSNL locations at Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Ludhiana. BSNL will provide the land and the fibre optic backbone, while Dimension Data will build these facilities," Bhagwanani added.

The company will sell this service to its clients using the utility pricing model, where clients will be charged as per their usage," Bhagwanani said.

On re-branding, Bhagwanani said: "the key difference that re-branding brings is our enhanced ability to help our clients accelerate their business goals".

Client companies will be able to avail of the 'One Cloud' service through three-five-year contracts, enabling them to save around 20-30 per cent costs in terms of space, power consumption and information technology infrastructure, he said.

The company, which plans to double its revenue in the next three years at a 25 per cent CAGR, plans to provide access to restricted data through virtual desktop infrastructure, to around 300 clients in sectors like financial services, large public sector enterprises, telecom service providers, information technology-enabled services as well as manufacturing companies.

Services offered would include desktop-based executive video-conferencing solutions which would save travel time and costs.

"India has been identified as a key growth market for Dimension Data. It contributes 20 per cent to the company's Asia-Pacific revenues.

Our commitment to this market will be seen in 'One Cloud' services where the company has committed to one of the largest investments in the cloud services business here," he said.
