GEPL, BoI ink deal to launch online share trading facility

BOI DMAT accounts expected to reach 50,000 by March 2011

Leading financial services company Gupta Equities Pvt Ltd (GEPL), and Bank of India (BoI) have entered into a strategic tie-up to launch an online share trading facility.

Gupta Equities' online share trading platform will help Bank of India customers trade in shares listed on the exchanges in an easy, transparent and hassle-free way.

An MoU was signed between Vivek Gupta, Managing Director, Gupta Equities Pvt Ltd and N C Khulbe, General Manager on behalf of Bank of India in the presence of M Narendra, Executive Director, Bank of India.

Gupta said customers will also be able to buy and sell securities while on the move by using their laptop, land line or PC by accessing the website of Bank of India or Gupta Equities Pvt Ltd.

Now, the customers of 3,200 plus branches of Bank of India can avail this facility, he added.

This will be a one-stop-shop for the investors where they will be able to access various products from through GEPL, thereby giving the investor the leverage to participate in this buoyant stock market, Gupta said.

"This move will be instrumental in expanding our footprint not only on the web but also will allow us to extend our reach through the Bank of India branches. We are honoured with this prestigious partnership which will help us in strengthening our distribution and our commitment to offer value added services to customers," said Gupta.

Presently Bank of India is having 21,000 DMAT accounts and by March 2011, the DMAT account base will be increased to 50,000 said Kulbe.
