Coming together on a platform to discuss various facets of cyber security, hackers, international hacking and cyber security experts, government officials and policymakers will attend ‘The Hackers Conference (THC) 2012’ on this Sunday in the national capital. The conference will witness an open gathering of hackers and the intelligence personnel debating latest cyber security issues in India.

The conference will see presentations on the vulnerabilities, exploits and mobile (Android/Blackberry/iPhone) hacks. Apart from speakers presenting on WI-FI and web application security, the invitees from government intelligence agencies will also speak on national security issues emerging from hacking of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), an industrial control system deployed in large power plants and other facilities.  

Government websites are turning out to be soft targets for hackers. In the last few months alone, as many as 112 websites, including that of the Planning Commission, the Finance Ministry and various State government agencies, were hacked or defaced.

“With so much happening in the world of Internet and Cyber Security, it is time to get a clear perspective. While the police face a debilitating manpower crunch in its cyber cells, other security agencies still prefer to view cyber attacks from an obsolete perspective,” a press note issued by the THC 2012 organizing team said.
