Haryana signs agreement with HP for implementing CCTNS

Haryana government today signed an agreement with Hewlett-Packard to implement Rs 55.04 crore Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project for sharing intelligence and information about crime and criminals across the country.

Haryana, Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjeev Dalal after signing an agreement said Haryana is one of the first States in the country to take up implementation of CCTNS, a mission mode project of Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Hwelett-Packard, Director, Tirthankar Banerjee signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Dalal, in a release, said that CCTNS was a time bound project costing Rs 55.04 crore and would be fully implemented by the year 2013. The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved funds amounting to Rs 31.39 crore for the implementation of the project in the State and the remaining amount of Rs 23.65 crores has been approved by the State Government.

A sum of Rs 6 crore had so far been incurred on this project. He said that Haryana was among the first states to have this project and it would be implemented throughout the country.

With the implementation of this system, the record of the all types of criminals would be available only with a click of a button. The system would bring about a revolutionary change in the working of the Haryana Police and also increase its credibility in the eyes of the public.

DGP said that the project envisaged alternative modes of complaint registration namely internet, e-mail, mobile phone, SMS and E-disha Kendra. Similarly, request of all types of police services including verification through alternate modes would also be accepted.
