HP launches upgraded suite of information management products

Suite to simplify capturing, managing and storing information.

IT major Hewlett-Packard (HP) today launched the upgraded suite of information management products that will simplify capturing, managing and storing information.

"These products bring the holistic approach to information management that will help companies in harnessing the power of information in order to make better decisions and deliver the right information to the right users at the right time," HP Software and Solutions Director Vikram K told reporters here.

The new products are HP Information Management Services, TRIM records management, Data Protector and Data Protector Reporter, Integrated Archive Platform and VIAP for virtual environments, Storage Essentials and HP Database Archiving.

Quoting a survey, he said about 77 per cent of Asia- Pacific enterprises lack holistic approach to manage business-critical information.

These products can be installed individually or collectively depending on the organisational need and do not require HP infrastructure for installation, he said.

"The overall information management market is around USD 5.2 billion and the potential for these products is huge and we expect these products will have a fairly big impact on the market."

The HP's software division revenue for FY 10 stood at approximately USD 3.6 billion (ending October 31, 2010). PTI SM RSY
