In a bid to ensure transparency and enable students to have a proper assessment of themselves, answer scripts of the IIT entrance test this year will be made available online after the declaration of results.

"Scanned copies of the answer scripts will be posted on Internet after the results are out to (help students) identify their area of weakness and the areas they need to focus attention," an official of HRD Ministry said in Delhi.

This year about 4.85 lakh students will sit for IIT entrance test on April 10, the results of which will be declared on May 25.

"The move will also ensure proper evaluation of the answer scripts," the official said, adding that the students will be given a password to see their answer scripts.

IITs have also made provisions to announce correct answers to all questions within a couple of days after the examinations are over.

Meanwhile, IIT-Kanpur Director S G Dhande told reporters of the total 4.85 lakh candidates appearing for the entrance test this year girls will constitute 28 per cent, up by four per cent from last year.

The IIT entrance test, to be organised by IIT-Kanpur this year, will be conducted in 1,051 centres across the country.
