The company board of Indian telecom equipment maker Kavveri Telecom on Monday approved the acquisition of an RF (radio frequency) company in Europe.

"We can not disclose the name of company at the moment but I can say that it has very good RF technology. The revenues of company is around Euros 15 million," Shivakumar Reddy, Managing Director, Kavveri Telecom Products told PTI. Reddy added that the company has access to European, Latin American and African markets, which will give Kavvery Telecom direct access to these companies.

RF technology is used to make products like electronic tag on products in mall, contactless smart card, toll card among others. After acquisition, Kavveri will shift manufacturing of the European firm's product to India.

"The company is European and being in Europe its cost of manufacturing is high. After acquisition, we will shift manufacturing of its product in India. This will be in lien with our strategy to make India manufacturing hub," Reddy said. The acquisition of the company will be done through internal funds of the company. On size of acquisition, Reddy said that company will announce it only after the completion of the deal.

Kavveri recently bagged an order of Rs 750 million from Europe and the company hopes that this acquisition would give it better position to get large orders from the customers in Europe. Recently, Kavveri also announced launch of indigenously made 4G antenna with an investment Rs 35 million.

In the past four years, Kavveri Telecom has acquired four North American RF and antennas manufacturing companies -- Tiltek Antennae, DCI Digital Communication, Soptwave Wireless, and Trackcom Systems International.
