Maharashtra will implement Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation?s (KDMC) e-governance model of delivering citizen services across all 231 urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state by 2012, said a statement issued by Oracle.

"KDMC is a great success and replicating it for other municipal bodies takes us one step closer to our vision of e-governance," said Anil Lad, System Manager, KDMC.

"The stability, performance and sustainability of the solution make us confident that we can help other municipal corporations deploy something similar," he added.

This e-governance model was jointly developed by Oracle and ABM Knowledgeware.

"We have been associated with KDMC since its inception.

We will continue to provide our support to KDMC and ABM Knowledgeware as we move forward on the project of delivering these solutions to the Urban Local Bodies," said Sandeep Mathur, Vice President, Technology, Oracle India.

The solution, patented under the name of KDMC, includes Marinette, software for e-governing municipal bodies from ABM Knowledgeware standardised on Oracle Database.

The service in all ULBs will be delivered through citizen facilitation centres (CFC).

This IT project will help automate access to more than 100 citizen services in Maharashtra, including payment of taxes,property related queries, application for new water connection, any other service, application for birth and death certificate and simple registration of any civic complaint.

"It is of great significance that the KDMC solution has been recommended for deployment in other municipal bodies in Maharashtra," said Prakash Rane, Managing Director, ABM Knowledgeware.

"This model, once implemented, will greatly improve the quality of life for citizens and instill more confidence among citizens towards their governments," he added.

The process for automating various processes has already been initiated in cities namely Ambarnath, Badlapur, Panvel, Khopoli, Alibag, Pen, Baramati, Panchgani, Satara, Karad, Solapur, Amravati, Chiplun, Mavan, Shirdi, Jaisinghpur, Malegaon, Dhulia, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Jalna, Shegaon, Dapoli, Daund, Junnar, Yavatmal, Akola, Beed, Madgaon, Aashta and Pusad.

Oracle has been associated with e-governance projects in India. The company has deployed its solution in various government departments across state namely West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh,Karnataka, Assam, Bihar,Maharashtra,Gujarat, Tamil Nadu,Andhra and Kerala.
