LG Mobile eyes Rs 3,000cr revenue in India;to invest Rs 250 cr

With the launch of new smartphones and other feature-rich phones in the country Korean handset maker LG Mobiles is eyeing a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore this year.

Korean handset maker LG Mobiles is eyeing a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore this year with the launch of new smartphones and other feature-rich phones in the country.

The company, which will launch 10 smartphones this year, registered an about Rs 2,000 crore revenue in 2010.

"We have a strong product lineup for this year. This will include 10 smartphones and other feature-rich phones. We expect our revenue to touch Rs 3,000 crore by the year-end," LG Electronics India Business Head (Mobile Communication) Vishal Chopra told PTI.

The company today launched its new smartphone 'LG Optimus 2X' in the country, priced at Rs 30,000.

The company claimed the handset is the world's first dual core processor smartphone. It is equipped with Nvidia's new Tegra 2 chipset, four-inch touchscreen, eight MP camera and expandable memory up to 32 GB.

The company has also launched LG Optimus Black at Rs 27,000. Both handsets will be available in the Indian market in a few days.

LG Mobiles has earmarked Rs 250 crore for marketing and promotional activities in 2011.

"This will include above the line promotional campaigns and programmes around new handsets," he said.

The company also plans to expand its 3G handsets portfolio.

"Currently, we have 12 3G handsets in our portfolio and this year, we are planning to introduce another 12-15 models this year," Chopra said.
