MahSat to collaborate with Symantec on smart grid security

Two companies to jointly improve smart grid network security

IT services provider Mahindra Satyam today said it is enhancing its current relationship with security software maker Symantec Corp. to collaborate on security solutions for smart grid.

The two companies plan to work together to jointly improve smart grid network security, which will also enhance Mahindra Satyam's ability to deliver secure and effective smart grid services to utilities globally.

Smart Grid refers to an improved electricity supply chain that runs from a major power plant all the way inside to consumer's home.

"Collaborating with an industry leader such as Symantec will help us to provide highly secure, reliable and robust smart grid solutions to our customers across the world," Mahindra Satyam Senior Vice President Arvind Malhotra said in a statement.

Mahindra Satyam and Symantec plan to combine expertise and capabilities to deliver cyber security and compliance solutions.

"The integration of power grid management with IT and networking technologies opens up new possibilities...We are excited to be working with industry leader Mahindra Satyam and develop safe, secure and effective energy solutions," Symantec Vice President Smart Grid Initiatives, office of the CTO Jose Iglesias said.
