Minor impersonating Durg MP on Facebook held

Student answered queries and promised help during interactions

A 14-year-old student, who chatted on a popular social networking site posing as a member of Parliament, was arrested from Durg district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Saturday.

The minor, who impersonated Durg BJP MP Saroj Pandey on Facebook, was held after the lawmaker filed a police complaint in this regard, Inspector General of Police, Durg, R K Vij told PTI.

The imposter spoke to several unidentified people through the fake ID, answering their queries and promising them required help by raising the issues in the state assembly, the police officer said.

During one such chat, when a woman acquaintance of Pandey received a mail from the student, she called the MP back instantly to thank her for the assured help, only to learn that the lawmaker had not sent any communication to her, police said.
