Jharkhand cabinet on Tuesday approved a series of bills including one on right to services and other on information technology.

The right to services bill intends to help people get services like residential proof, caste, death/birth and other certificates, within a time frame.  The draft legislation on IT aims to take forward the e-governance and automation in government in the state.

Besides, the Jharkhand Lokayukta Act, 2001 Amendment Bill is also to be placed in the state assembly beginning on August 26. The amendment has some provisions for salary, allowances and other points, Cabinet Secretary Aditya Swaroop told reporters after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arjun Munda.

The approval comes on a day when Munda said his government would add more teeth to the existing Lokayukta Act to rein in corruption while favouring inclusion of the chief minister's office. Also approved were five bills, covering salaries and allowance of MLAs, speaker and officials and staff of Assembly Secretariat for laying them in the house.

The Fiscal Responsibility Budget Management Bill, 2011 and an amendment bill of Jharkhand Value Added Tax Act, 2005, were approved to be placed in the house, the official said.
