National consumer helpline receives highest calls in Mar 2011

The national consumer helpline (NCH) received 10,384 calls during March, 2011, the highest since its inception, the government today said.

"The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) received 10,384 calls during March 2011. It is the highest number of calls received in any month since its launch in March, 2005," an official release said.

Apart from the calls/complaints, NCH received 171 complaints through its online complaint system, it said.

The maximum calls were received from Delhi followed by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana, it added.

It said that 17.74 per cent of the total calls were related to telecom sector followed by products, general inquiry, LPG and banking and 314 complaints were resolved.

Consumers from across the country can access the toll-free NCH and seek telephonic counseling for consumer-related problems faced by them. It also provides information, advice and guidance related to consumer issues.
