The Corporate Affairs Ministry on Thursday said the next phase of its e-governance initiative, MCA21, would provide additional infrastructure as well as cover official liquidators' offices, among others.

MCA21 covers all aspects of incorporation and regulation of entities as defined under the Companies Act and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act. The project is basically aimed at improving the quality of services offered to various stakeholders.

Noting that the project has yielded "remarkable results", Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot said next version of MCA21 would be implemented with improved business processes, application enhancements and additional infrastructure (network connectivity) along with coverage of additional offices like that of official liquidators.

"The continuation cycle project is for eight and a half years from January 2013 to July 2021, with a financial outlay of Rs 357.81 crore to be met from the non-plan head," Pilot informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

The existing contract for MCA21 is ending on January 16, 2013.

"In terms of efficiency, the project achieved speedy delivery of services and regulation of corporate compliances through the use of modern information technology.

"The project has been well appreciated for end-to-end electronic service delivery and authenticated electronic online filing using Digital Certificate based authorisation," Pilot said.
