Struggling hard to find information on the Delhi Metro network, its train timings and major tourist attractions in the capital? Don't worry.

Now, such data will be available at the click of a button at select metro stations.

Delhi Metro is installing interactive digital pods at 28 metro stations to provide detailed information to its commuters about the network, stations, train timings and fare structure besides facts about the capital city.

The digital pods, which are being installed at all major stations, will provide help to people who come to Delhi from other parts of the country.

Sixty interactive pods will be installed at 28 stations on Line 1 (Dilshad Garden-Rithala), Line 2 (Jahangirpuri?HUDA City Centre) and Line 3 (Dwarka Sector 21? Noida City Centre/Anand Vihar).

"The pods will have detailed information about the Delhi Metro network, stations, fare structure as well as information about the Delhi city and its major tourist attractions," DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

Since the pods will be internally networked, DMRC can flash instant messages for the public in case of any emergency or inordinate delays.

The pods have already been installed at Rajiv Chowk, which sees a footfall of 5 lakh every day, Barakhamba Road, Kashmere Gate and Vishwavidyalaya metro stations.

"These pods are currently undergoing trial and software checks and will be operational within a month.

Installation of such pods in the other stations is also in progress," Dayal said.

The Delhi Metro currently carries around 16 lakh passengers on a week day traversing over 2,500 kms.

While the Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate stations will have four pods, all the other stations will have two each.

"Eight such pods have already been installed at the Barakhamba Road, Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Vishwavidyalaya Metro stations so far," he said.

Dayal said the pods, in the future, will also have the provision of providing accessibility to the portals of the Indian Railways, major Airline companies and the Google earth map.

"It is also proposed to equip these pods with the Bluetooth facility to ensure that all the downloadable information available in the pods is easily transferred to mobile phones," he said.
