NSIC launches website for MSMEs

‘www.msmeintelligence.com’ to help MSMEs access database of more than one lakh foreign buyers and hundreds of technologies used all over the world

The government has launched a website to help micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) adopt global marketing strategies and modern technologies. Currently, the Indian sector faces huge problems in manufacturing world-class products and marketing them.

The website, www.msmeintelligence.com, launched by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) will help MSMEs access database of more than one lakh foreign buyers and hundreds of technologies used all over the world.

Besides connecting users with 500 government departments, it gives details of tenders floated by national and foreign bodies like United Nations, International Labour Organization.

National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Chairman cum Managing Director H P Kumar said the site is available in 10 different languages, including Russian and Chinese. It has features like Skype calling and news alerts.

In 2010, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister T K A Nair had recommended NSIC setting up a specialised cell for international marketing intelligence.

NSIC is a government-owned corporation under the administrative control of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Ministry.

As many as 60 million people are employed in the sector, which contributes eight per cent in the country's Gross Domestic Product and 40 per cent of our exports.
