One held for forging 'AP Online' receipts in Hyderabad

The alleged used to issue manual 'AP Online' receipts and would not remit the amount gathered from the motorists in the traffic branch

The city police on Monday busted a racket indulged into forging receipts under the 'Andhra Pradesh Online' services and arrested one person in this connection. 'AP Online' is a web portal for availing numerous services being rendered by the state government.

Based on a credible information, sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force (West Zone) apprehended one Mohammad Fayaz, who along with the prime accused Hameed Shareef, was indulged into the fraud by issuing hand-written 'AP Online' receipts and also preparing false registration documents, notary by using stamps of government officials and also the notary stamps, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police K Raghuram Reddy said.

'AP Online' is a single window system through which the citizens can avail a wide array of services like registrations, issue of certificates, utility services, payments services being provided by the state government.

The prime accused Hameed Shareef is absconding, he said. According to police, Fayaz along with Shareef, who runs a consultancy at Moosarambagh area, used to collect money from motorists who violate the Traffic and Motor Vehicle rules.

He used to issue manual 'AP Online' receipts and would not remit the amount gathered from the motorists in the traffic branch. So far, the duo has collected about Rs 1.75 lakh through the fraudulent practise, Reddy added.

Police have seized 2,000 blank receipts, one computer system, one printer, and 55 rubber stamps of different government officials from Fayaz.
