In an effort to bring more transparency, Delhi government has decided to introduce an online system for major infrastructure projects through which the Central Vigilance Commission will be able to monitor them during various stages of their execution.

The online monitoring platform has been developed by CVC and the Delhi government decided to introduce it following a communication from the Central body.

"The VIG EYE (vigilante eye) is an online platform through which the CVC will be able to monitor various stages of infrastructure projects. The executing agencies will have to feed various technical and other related data at various stages of a project," Tripathi said.

The chief secretary described the decision as an important move forward in ensuring transparency in execution of mega projects.

The CVC had found alleged irregularities in six major infrastructure projects implemented by Delhi government in the run up to the Commonwealth Games. The agency had even criticised the government for not adhering to quality standards in number of projects.

"Now the CVC will be able to monitor various aspects of the projects during their implementation stage itself," said Tripathi.

Earlier, addressing senior officials of the administration, Tripathi said the vigilance mechanism would be further strengthened to ensure proper compliance of laid down norms.

Asking various departments to improve public service delivery mechanism, he said at times government faces public embarrassment due to unprofessional attitude of a few officials even if the whole administration was working hard to deliver the goods.

"We need to improve public delivery system at our offices by way of making them more citizen friendly. The government will constantly endeavour to move towards full public disclosures of our procedures and processes and promote electronic cash transfer system," he said.

Tripathi said government was in the process of taking number of steps to ensure transparency.
