Pak minister sees potential for tech cooperation with India

Both sides agreed that scientific, technological research is important for India, Pakistan to harness new resources of energy

Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Changez Khan Jamali said on Thursday there is tremendous potential for Indo-Pak cooperation in the fields of science and technology.

He made the remarks during a meeting with his Indian counterpart Kapil Sibal on the sidelines of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris.

Both ministers agreed that scientific and technological research is very important for India and Pakistan to harness new and non-traditional resources of energy to speed up industrial development.

They discussed other matters of mutual interests and bilateral relations.

Jamali apprised Sibal about Pakistan's ongoing development and research projects in science and technology. Sibal highlighted Indian projects in information technology.

Shehnaz Wazir Ali, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for the Social Sector and a member of the UNESCO Executive Board from Pakistan, was present in the meeting.
