Punjab govt launches website to counter graft

The website has facility for users to upload photos and audio/video footage along with their online complaint

Stepping up its drive against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday launched a special online portal and toll-free number for general public to register their complaints against any corrupt activities.

Launching the portal and the toll-free number here, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the two new features would prove as significant tools to involve general public in the campaign against corruption.

The website has facility for users to upload photos and audio/video footage along with their online complaint, he said.

"This would help the vigilant public to videograph or photograph any corrupt activities being indulged by public servants and upload the same on the vigilance bureau's website so that it could take action against the guilty," an official spokesman said here.

People in Punjab can now register complaints on the newly obtained toll-free number (1800-1800-1000) and provide details regarding any complaint or information, Badal said while releasing the number.

Speaking about the portal, Chief Director Vigilance Suresh Arora said it was accessible through all kinds of gadgets like mobile phone, I-pad, desktop computer, laptop and would also provide an online help desk for the NRI community.

It would also have a facility to lodge and check the status of a complaint online, he added.
