With a view to ensuring complete transparency and accountability in the Transport department, Punjab Transport Minister Ajit Singh Kohar today said the senior officers of the department will undertake all day-to-day departmental work online.

Stating this information here while addressing the review meeting of the District Transport Officers (DTOs) and Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs), Kohar underlined the need for improving and strengthening the existing transport system in order to provide smooth transport facilities in the state.

He also directed the officers to expedite and monitor the work of putting high security number plates on the vehicles on top priority.

Reviewing the ongoing work on high security number plates in the state, the minister asked the representatives of the companies engaged for this task to complete the work within the stipulated time frame so that people do not face any harassment.

Addressing the officers, the minister asked them to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication and be extremely polite towards the people who visit them in offices.

He said that the government had already fixed the period for the registration of vehicles, issuing of fitness certificates to the commercial vehicles, driving license of motor car/motor cycle, issuing tax clearance certificate, issuing of rout permit or National permit and transfer of vehicles under the Right to service Act.
