West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said the state government has been committed to ensure transparency and efficiency with the introduction of e-governance in the works of all departments.

Inaugurating a web portal of Public Works Department (PWD) at the state secretariat of Writer's Buildings, Banerjee said that apart from bringing in transparency, the portal would help access details of all projects and stages of their implementation and expenses in detail.

In future tenders of all projects in the department could also be called through the web portal, chief minister said. With a vast network of engineers and offices of the department in the state, the people would now have the opportunity to get all information at the click of the mouse, she said.

State's PWD Minister Subrata Bakshi said the department was also going to introduce e-procurement with the NIC module very shortly, Banerjee said.
