Advisor to Prime Minister on public information, infrastructure and innovations Sam Pitroda on Saturday met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here and discussed the implementation of the National e-Governance project in the state.

The status of human resource development and innovation projects taken up by the state government were discussed in the meeting, an official said.  The Chief Minister informed Pitroda of the provision for three per cent of plan budget in every government department for the capacity building of state government personnel and to promote e-governance.

A target of Rs 300 crore to be spent in the current fiscal year has been fixed, the official said. 2,256 centers have been functionalised all over the state to deliver services by different departments and provide infromation to citizens in a hassle-free manner, Gehlot is understood to have told Pitroda in the meeting.

Later in the day, Pitroda shared his thought on public information infrastructure and innovations and emphasised on the need to change mindset and think differently to keep pace with rapidly changing world.

He said information infrastructure need to be strengthened to organise information. Citing the example of long pending court cases, he said there is no organised data due to lack of infrastructure.

"If we are to grow at nine per cent, then we should think and act differently...We need new knowledge as the driver of tomorrow's economic, to be global competent and to create jobs. We must focus on information infrastructure...What we are thinking today is on the pattern which used to be years ago, and this is what we need to change," he said.
