Consumer electronics maker Samsung India today said it is targetting sales of USD 100 million (around Rs 455 crore), over two-and-half fold jump from last year, from its information technology products in the business-to-business segment (B2B) in 2011.

The company's total (B2B) sales in the IT and mobile division -- such as printers, mobiles and displays -- stood at USD 38 million (around Rs 173 crore) last year. This year it is focusing on the education sector with an aim for 25 per cent to the total sales target to come from the segment.

"In 2011, we are targetting turnover of USD 100 million in the B2B sales of IT and mobile products. The thrust area is the education sector and we are targeting 25 per cent of the total sales to come from education sector this year," Samsung India Electronics Mobile and IT Country Head Ranjit Yadav told reporters here.

Marking its foray into the B2B education sector, the company today announced the launch of new product -- e-board -- that aims to make classroom training more interactive.

With the e-boards that are enabled with latest teaching applications and features, Samsung is targetting over 20,000 educational institutes in the country through 15 channel partners this year.

The newly launched interactive e-board 650 TS comes with an in-built personal computer with a pre-loaded operating system and speakers along with other applications and features for teachers and students and is priced at Rs 5.25 lakh.

The board is also compatible with the company's popular tablet, Galaxy Tab.

"In the first phase the plan is to tap educational institutes in the top nine cities of the country," he added.

Besides, the education segment, the company's other products such as digital signages, board room displays, retail displays for other areas such as hospitality and corporate are likely to drive sales this year.

In 2010, Samsung India Electronics' total sales stood at USD 3.5 billion (about Rs 16,000 crore) and this year the company is targetting a 40 per cent growth over the same.

The mobile and IT segment contributes 50 per cent to Samsung's total turnover in India.
