'Vasudha Kendras' not too useful

Lack of connectivity between data centres and block offices in way of e-gov

PTI | March 28, 2011

Bihar government today admitted in the state assembly that more than 6000 Vasudha Kendras set up for e-governance were not not "too much useful" because of the failure to link the data centres with the block offices in the state.

Replying to a short-notice question of Durga Prasad Singh (JD-U) in the state assembly, Information Technology Minister Sahid Ali Khan said over 6,000 vasudha kendras were set up in Bihar till date since 2007 which were just catering to recharging of coupons for mobile and e-ticketing of rail tickets.

"No no type of certificates are being issued by these Kendras", Khan said.

Because of non-linking of data centres and block offices, it had become difficult to achieve the dream of e-governance, he said.

Khan, however, said the state government through its own resources had formulated projects worth Rs 400 crore for attaining the e-governance which would be made possible within next two years.
