Jammu and Kashmir government is taking various steps, including installation of internet Wi-Fi and upgradation of infrastructure, in Gulmarg to make the hill station a tourist friendly spot.

Minister of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani, who visited Gulmarg yesterday, directed Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) to install Wi-Fi technology to provide high speed wireless internet and network connections in the area.

"The WiFi system will keep Gulmarg connected to the rest of the world and will ensure that timely intervention is made to meet natural calamities like avalanches and road blockades," the minister said.

He has also directed the GDA to procure three snow scooters on a trial basis for the visitors.

Wani also asked GDA to complete the ice skating ring without any delay and asked them to complete the work on Gulmarg Golf Course in time.

"A Task Force headed by Omar Abdullah has been constituted for early completion of Gulmarg and Pahalgam golf courses," Wani said.
