Wimax service soon in Madurai

BSNL is also establishing rural browsing centres in villages where services are being provided at Rs five per hour

BSNL would soon introduce 'Wimax" Broadband Service, equivalent to 4G service in this city, according to a top official.

Participating at the Telephone Advisory Committee meeting here last evening, BSNL General Manager S E Rajam said BSNL was establishing rural browsing centres in villages where services are provided at Rs five per hour. So far 21 centres had been set up in Madurai, Theni and Dindigul districts.

Besides 38 more browsing centres would be established.

She claimed that 1200 broadband service had been provided in the last two months.

She claimed that the Mobile service and Pre-paid scheme introduced for Paramilitary personnel was successful and also that SIM cards with free STD facilities were seeing good sales.
